Week 8 will feature Tua Tagovailoa’s first NFL start, and our FanDuel tournament picks include Tagovailoa at quarterback. Sometimes, you have to take stacking risks, such as relying on Dolphins to win a DFS tournament, and that’s exactly what we’re trying this week.
Counting on three Miami players at least gives us a lot of salary to work with elsewhere, so we’ve fit Alvin Kamara, Davante Adams and A.J. Brown into our lineup. That gives us a high floor to pair with our value plays in the hopes of hitting it big.
FanDuel Picks Week 8: NFL DFS lineup for GPPs
QB Tua Tagovailoa, Dolphins vs. Rams ($6,800)
This play is about believing in Tagovailoa’s talent. The Rams are a pretty solid defense, and they’ll likely hit Tua a few times. But he was also a generational quarterback prospect prior to his hip injury in college, and he’s supposed to be fully healthy now. Tagovailoa’s price may never be this low again, and we’re taking a shot that he delivers in his first start.
RB Alvin Kamara, Saints @ Bears ($9,000)
Kamara remains the focal point of New Orleans’ offense, and the Bears don’t have that great a run defense. Dalvin Cook would’ve worked nicely in this spot, but we’re counting on the Packers D/ST, so it’s Kamara that we’re playing out of the top tier of running backs.
RB Jonathan Taylor, Colts @ Lions ($7,300)
The Lions are a bottom-10 run defense, and Taylor continues to get the heaviest work in the Indy backfield. He hasn’t been quite as dynamic as some expected, but there’s nothing like a get-right game against Detroit.
WR Preston Williams, Dolphins vs. Rams ($5,200)
DeVante Parker’s tendency to leave games early because of injuries is annoying and would be killer in a tournament. He also might get the Jalen Ramsey treatment. We’ll hope that Williams benefits from all of that. He’s an especially big target for Tua to count on to move the chains and find the end zone.
WEEK 8 DFS TOURNAMENT LINEUPS: DraftKings
WR Davante Adams, Packers vs. Vikings ($9,100)
Not having Adams a week ago killed our lineup. Hopefully, having him this week won’t kill us again. He sets up for another good game with double-digit targets against a mediocre Vikings pass defense that he lit up for 14 catches earlier this season.
WR A.J. Brown, Titans @ Bengals ($7,500)
The Bengals just made Baker Mayfield look really, really good. With the way Ryan Tannehill has played as Tennessee’s starter, there’s reason to expect big things here. Brown remains the biggest threat in the Titans’ offense to go over the top and hit a home run, and he very well might do that this week.
TE Mike Gesicki, Dolphins vs. Rams ($5,500)
Yup, we’re really going all-in on Tua’s first start. The Rams’ biggest question mark entering the season was their linebacking corps, and while Micah Kiser has gotten a lot of tackles, they haven’t exactly slowed down tight ends. Rookie QBs are supposed to rely on their TE, so we’ll rely on Gesicki this week, too.
FLEX WR Darnell Mooney, Bears vs. Saints ($5,200)
Mooney is the most exciting player in Chicago’s offense, and if Nick Foles had hit him for a wide-open 90-yard TD on Monday night, his price would be much higher. They didn’t connect, though, so we’ll take the discount on Mooney and hope for big things this week.
DEF Green Bay Packers vs. Vikings ($4,000)
The Packers’ pass rush should cause Kirk Cousins fits, and their corners should make Cousins pay for mistakes. The risk here is that Green Bay’s relatively weak run defense won’t hold up against Dalvin Cook. If the Packers can at least slow Cook, they’ll have a good day defensively.
